Underwater GalleryKrill, a shrimplike crustacean, form the basis of all marine life in the Antarctic. They form large schools which animals as large as leopard seals and humpback whales feed upon. Below 130 feet, the forests of kelp give way, showing a diverse community of invertebrates including sponges, sea spiders, and the bizarre "highly contractile hydroid" Candelabrum. |
